ROBERT J. (BOB) MECIONIS
(CONSULTANT)

Bob Mecionis is an independent exploration technologist who has 14 years experience with tellurics and audio magnetotelluric technologies in oil and gas exploration, ranging throughout the United States, Canada, and Sultanate of Oman. Mr. Mecionis graduated in 1984 with an M.S. in geology from Bowling Green State University, where his research specialty was carbonate diagenesis. During graduate school, he was a consultant for the State of Ohio, working as a microscopist/analyst in the asbestos program.

Mr. Mecionis began his career in tellurics in 1984, where his work led to several substantive oil field discoveries in Kansas and Michigan.

In 1986, Mr. Mecionis was contracted to Southport, where his telluric operation assisted in major hydrocarbon discoveries in several areas of the U.S. and Canada. During this period, he was involved in a successful research and development program which added to the understanding of the fluid modulation signal.

In 1988, Bob joined Southport as a technologist/geologist, making significant contributions to Southport’s research and development program.

Bob became an independent contractor in February, 1993, and in July, 1993, became a full time consultant to Southport/DMT, aiding in the development of the Z-SCAN and DIGILOG high resolution magnetotelluric systems. He continues to work in the field of high resolution magnetotellurics, today.
